COURSE DESCRIPTION :-
This is a foundation Montessori teacher training course. It is suitable for students wishing to work with or to teach children from 2 1/2 to 6 years of age. The diploma is awarded by Modern Montessori International, London.
 
ENTRY QUALIFICATION :-

Applicants are assessed on their individual merits but must have obtained at least WAEC / NECO / GCE "O" level (or equivalent). They must also have a good standard of both written and spoken English. They must be at least 17 years of age.

 
AIMS :-

The course aims to develop in students a high level of professional competence as teachers of the Montessori Method to children from 2 1/2 to 6 years of age. It will give students:

1. A thorough grounding in the Montessori principle and philosophy.
2. Basic understanding of child psychology.
3. An appreciation and understanding of the teaching aids developed by Dr. Maria Montessori.
4. Knowledge of the Montessori Environment and the role of a Montessori Directress / Director.
5. Knowledge of the Montessori Curriculum.

Part Time: 420 college contact hours (3 contact hours per day - 2 days perWeek)

COURSE MATERIALS :-

On acceptance on the course, you will receive the manuals and two textbooks.

 
OPTIONAL TEACHING PRACTICE :-

Students may join the teaching practice programme once they have completed DMT 104 (Montessori Exercises of Practical Life). This supervised teaching must be completed in an accredited Montessori School.

 
AWARDS :

1.   Diploma - In order to obtain the Diploma, awarded by MMI London

  1. Part-Time students have to

    a) Attend lectures regularly
    b) Complete and pass all written assignments
    c) Pass written & practical examinations

  2. International Diploma -In order to obtain the international Diploma awarded by MMI London, students have to obtain the certificate and complete 420 hours of teaching practice.
