COURSE MODULES DESCRIPTION

Sensorial Training (DMT 105)

Sensorial exercises are concerned with the development and refinement of the five senses, thereby sharpening the child's intellect control and preparing him for more advanced exercises.
Sensorial training helps the child to be more sensitive to his learning environment through the use of his five senses. These sensorial exercises help the child to order, relate, explore and classify his sense of perception he has before coming to school.The sensorial materials lay a solid foundation for Mathematics, Geometry, Geography, Botany, Art and Music.

Course Objectives

  • To discuss the improtance of sensorial exercises and how they influence children.
  • To discuss the organisation of sensorial exercises and the Montessori environment for such exercises.
  • Learners will have the opportunity to review the presentation (i.e take analysis) of the sensorial exercises.
  • To analyse the direct and indirect aims for each exercise.
  • To invole learners in the presentation of the sensorial materials.
